Split Tube Design: The tube can be divided in the middle. Then you have two shorter parts that can easily be transported in compact bags or airplanes.

You can also attach the focuser to the shorter tube only. Then you have a huge back focus distance that allows for the use of extreme accessories such as binocular viewers.

The rear tube half in the latest version is black and has a slightly smaller diameter.

 The TL 805 APO combines excellent mechanical quality, several clever features, a modular design and an excellent optical quality - and all this at a very attractive price!

Observer 62
Aperture 62mm - Focal Length 560mm - 4 element Petzval design
Very good field correction for visual and photographical use

The Scopos Observer 62 is one of our most versatile compact all purpose telescopes with excellent image quality and reduced secondary spectrum (false colour).

Its four element optical layout offers superb correction both on axis and throughout the large field.

Applications:

Nature Observing & Birdwatching
The Observer 62 is both compact and lightweight - ideal for transport. Image quality and definition is excellent with hardly any false colour that is common in other spotting scopes of this price range. As a result you can see fine details in the feathers of a distant bird. A particularly helpful feature: The Scopos Observer 62 doubles as a full quality tele lens for photography (see below).

Target Shooting
Spotting scopes are very popular among target shooters to check their aim without having to go closer to the target. But a good image quality is mandatory, otherwise the spotting scope is of little to no use. The Scopos Observer 62 is warmly recommended for this purpose.

You can freely choose the magnification with the proper optional eyepieces. If you are not sure about which magnification is best for each particular shooting distance please don’t hesitate to ask!

Astronomy
The Scopos Observer 62 is a very well corrected astronomical telescope. Its Petzval optical design consists of four elements for enhanced colour and field correction compared with a doublet of similar aperture and focal length. Image sharpness is very good throughout the large field of view.

The Scopos Observer 62 accepts standard 1.25” accessories (accessories are not included in the scope of delivery).

This telescope is also particularly well suited for astro-imaging. At the same time you can use it as a tele lens for terrestrial photography as well:

Photography / Tele Lens
The Scopos Observer 62 is a very well corrected tele lens with full illumination of the 35mm film format. Image definition is very good even towards the edge of the large field of view. This is achieved with the integrated doublet correcting lens at the rear of the tele

Integrated 360° Rotation
The tele-lens / camera setup is fixed to camera tripods through an adaptor that is integrated in the Scopos Observer 62 - not through the camera’s tripod thread. An integrated 360° rotation system allows you to change the camera’s position within seconds according to your specific needs. (The camera on the image above as well as the tripod are not included in the scope of delivery.)

Focus Graduation on the Focuser
The focuser of the Scopos Observer 62 is equipped with a focus graduation. This allows you to memorize the proper focus position with your particular camera. As a result focusing takes significantly shorter than without such a graduation.
Compact Transport Dimensions

This image demonstrates the extremely compact dimensions of the Scopos Observer 62. Only the excellent mechanical design with the retractable dewcap makes this possible. When working with the telescope just pull out the dewcap to full working length - it will remain in position without the need to lock it. The dewcap effectively prevents the formation of dew on the front lenses and also doubles as baffle against stray light.

The Focuser of the Observer 62

Even the best of lenses can only offer average results when coupled with too simple mechanics, in particular a too simple focuser. The focuser of the Observer 80 is excellently made and offers smooth and stable focus motion. The focuser accepts 1.25" accessories and holds them firmly with a compression ring. Clear aperture is 44mm until the 1.25" adaptor.
Mount and Tripod Adaptation

The Scopos Observer 62 has an integrated tripod connection thread. It fits nearly all standard camera and video tripods.

We also optionally offer dovetail plates for various astronomical mounts with quick release system.

Practical Carry Case

The Observer 62 is delivered with a beautiful and practical foam-fitted carry case. This case is made for traveling as well as safe storage of the telescope. The case has cutouts and space for accessories.
2" Accessories on the Scopos Observer 62

With the proper adaptation you can also use 2" accessories on the Scopos Observer 62. The upgrade kit contains a 2" star diagonal and a 2" locking ring. A 1.25" adaptor is also included so that you can still use 1.25" accessories.

PETZVAL Optical Layout

The PETZVAL optical layout offers great advantages for photography in particular. Normal refractors have a curved focal plane, resulting in a deterioration of image sharpness towards the edge. A separate field flattener is then needed for better results.

The Petzval design has such a lens integrated into the telescope. You do not need to use a separate field flattening lens!
Observer 62 as Tele-Lens

One of the great strengths of the Scopos Observer 62 is its photographical performance. With its Petzval optical layout (see above) you get a sharp, well corrected field even with 35mm format cameras!

You only need the special adaptor for prime focus photography. The adaptor replaces the 1.25" visual back, so you get no vignetting that would otherwise occur.

Then you can attach your camera with a standard T-ring.
360° Rotation System

The Observer 62 has a 360° rotatable focuser, allowing you to adjust the camera angle freely according to your specific needs. Changing the angle of the camera takes only a few seconds.
