Star-Guide 2000.0 - Sándor Szabó

The Star-Guide is a new standard star chart suitable for owners even of relatively large telescopes but still affordable even for beginners. You should never buy a telescope without a star chart - a star chart will help you find all those objects within reach of your telescope.

Stars up to 9 mag

The Star-Guide is sorted by Declination down to minus 40°. On 138 pages you find overlapping charts for easier use. Limiting magnitude is 9 mag which makes the charts useful for star hopping with optical finderscopes. Still the chart is very compact compared with other large star charts, it is only slightly larger than Din-A4.

Five Detail Charts:

For regions of particular interest there are five zoom-charts. These show the region around the Great Orion Nebula (up to 18 mag), the double cluster in Perseus (up to 15 mag), the Coma-Virgo galaxy clusters (stars up to 12 mag), the polar region (with the position of the celestial pole from 2000 to 2100 AD, stars up to 17 mag) and the constellation Ursa Minor with Polaris (suitable for estimating the visual limiting magnitude (up to 7.7 mag).

The main stars of all constellations are connected by lines that make the constellations themselves easier to find and identify in the charts.

Galaxies: 13 mag
Open Clusters: 13.5 mag
Galaxy Clusters: 14.5 mag
Planetary Nebulae: 13 mag
Diffuse Nebulae: 13 mag
All innergalactic Globular Clusters: 13 mag

SPECIAL FEATURE: A transparent TELRAD mask is included. On this mask you will find the three concentric rings of the same size as in a Telrad zero magnification finderscope. The three circles span 1/4°, 1° and 3°, respectively.
This is a great help for finding objects with a TELRAD.

Also on the mask are the sizes for the magnitudes of stars and objects.

 Sky Atlas 2000.0 Deluxe Edition - Wil Tirion

One of the most popular star charts for active observers, the Sky Atlas 2000 Deluxe is a large format high resolution colour chart that is easy to read with a red light in the dark. It contains a large number of objects on 28 charts (500 x 380mm). 80,000+ stars are shown down to 8.5mag.

This large format allows the stars, nebulas and galaxies to be displayed with unrivalled clarity. For this edition improved isophotal maps are used for the Milky Way, and extra charts for crowded areas of the sky have been added. Within the constellations, Flamsteed numbers identify the brighter stars by name, while NGC and Messier numbers are used for non-stellar objects. Colour coding and size graduation is used to visually convey the maximum information on star types and brightnesses.

Sky Atlas 2000.0 Field Edition Laminated - Wil Tirion

Sky Atlas 2000.0 in its second edition offers nearly 90,000 stars, with all positions derived from the Hipparcos database, the most accurate survey ever undertaken. In this Desk Version, the 29 charts show stars and deep-sky objects in black on a white background. The map area is 460 x 330 mm (18 by 13 inches). The charts are printed on heavy paper with a rigid clear plastic, and for ease of use they are unbound and boxed. In this format the Atlas will be indispensable as an aid to telescope users who prefer to plan their observing on the desktop. The lamination allows felt tip or wax markers to be used.

A modern, conclusive book on digital astrophotography.

This book explains in an easy language the possibilities of digital astro-imaging and digital image processing. The book has recently been updated to include the new possibilities with new softwares and PCs.

The AIP4WIN software has also been updated. It is now based on 32bit floating point calculations, essentially meaning that now the PC limits the possibilities of this software, not the software itself.

An easy to read, incredibly detailed (literally down to single bolts and nuts) instruction on how to build a large aperture truss tube Dobsonian telescope. An indispensable companion for amateur telescope makers.
