Illuminated Reticle Eyepieces

Orion IR 5

5mm Illuminated Reticle Eyepiece (7 Elements) with Improved Viewing Comfort

For a particularly precise tracking control you often need a very high magnification. At the same time the eye relief must be long enough to allow you to look through the eyepiece for extended periods without straining your eyes. Of course the reticle is #-shaped, so the guide star won't be hidden by the crosshair.

Better Viewing Comfort and Field Sharpness Through 7 Element Design
The 7 lens design offers a good field sharpness and a viewing comfort comparable with a 10mm Plossl eyepiece. This allows you to guide comfortably during long exposure times.

Infinitely Adjustable Brightness
You will not always be able to find a bright star for guiding, and will then be forced to use a dim star instead. For this reason you can adjust the brightness of the reticle accordingly.

Integrated Focus Mechanism
With this reticle eyepiece you are not forced to use your eyeglasses for guiding. You can focus the reticle for your eyes using the integrated focus mechanism.

Orion IR 12,5

12.5mm Illuminated Reticle Eyepiece (4 Elements) With Good Viewing Comfort

For most photographical applications you need a reticle eyepiece with a medium focal length. This reticle eyepiece also has a #-shaped reticle of good quality and resembles a 4-element Plossl design. It offers a good field sharpness and a comfortable eye relief.

Orion Guide Scope Rings with short dovetail plate PS 21

Orion Guide Scope Rings

For amateur astronomers who already own a suitable guide scope.

The guide scope rings are made of aluminium and accept guide scopes up to a tube diameter of approx. 100mm (inside diameter of the tube rings: 105mm). The set consists of two guide scope rings with 3 thumbscrews each. The rings have one 1/4" thread in their base. Screws for attaching them to a standard dovetail plate are included.

Dovetail Plates for the Orion Guide Scope Rings - PS 21 and PS 32
The dovetail plates offer an easy adaptation of the tube rings to various telescopes. The guide scope rings are attached at either end of the dovetail plate. The setup can than be attached to a piggy-back camera holder or parallel to the primary telescope using our TS Duomount (see recommended products below).

TS Duomount

A particularly elegant means of attaching a guide scope next to the primary telescope. The Duomount fits on most mounts with quick release devices (Vixen GP, GP-DX, Sphinx; Synta EQ-5, EQ-6, H-EQ5; Celestron ADM, CAM; TS Astro-5; many other mounts). The primary telescope and guide scope are attached to the Duomount using the same format dovetail plates. ............................................................................. Further Information on the TS Duomount

Advantages:
- better stability, because the guide scope is not attached to the tube rings or tube of the primary telescope which were not made for this kind of mechanical strain.
- because of the shorter lever arms the mount is not strained as much either.

TS Saddle Plate and Tele-Optic Deluxe Saddle Plate

Another way to connect the guide scope using the dovetail plate is by means of the saddle plate. The clamp has a flat bottom surface with various possible adaptations.

You can attach the guide scope on a flat surface or on many tube rings. If you use two dovetail clamps you will get a better stability.

The major advantage is that you can remove the guide scope from the primary telescope within just a few seconds.

There are two versions of the saddle plate available. The standard saddle plate offers a good stability and has a very good value for money. The Tele-Optic Deluxe clamp has a better stability and does not scratch the dovetail plate.

SteadyPix Digital Camera Mount

With the Orion SteadyPix Digital Camera Mount you can attach nearly every digital camera to your telescope. You do not need to use the camera's objective-side thread.

Operation
Many cameras have only very flimsy filter threads or no filter thread at all. The SteadyPix Digital Camera Mount does not need such threads, but instead uses the 1/4" thread that is integrated into the base of nearly all cameras. It works well up to a camera weight of approx. 500g.

Important: For digital imaging you will always need an eyepiece between the telescope's objective and the camera. You should get as close to the eyepiece as you can with the camera.

The SteadyPix camera mount is ideally suited for this purpose. You can get extremely close to the eyepiece, the eyepiece also performs as telescope adaptor. First you align the camera before the eyepiece, then you just put the entire setup into the telescope's focuser.
