Polar Scope for Losmandy GM8 and G-11 Mounts

The Losmandy PS Polar Scope provides simple and quick polar alignment for your Losmandy mount. It is not necessary to use setting circles and complicated calculations for proper polar alignment (see box below). The polar scope can be illuminated through the 12V plug on the mount.

View through the Losmandy Polar Scope. For proper alignment you only need to identify the constellations Ursa Maior ("Big Dipper") and / or Cassiopeia. A similarly simple means of orientation is provided for the southern hemisphere. On the right image you can see the exact spot where Polaris needs to be positioned for proper alignment.

Heavy Duty Tripod for Losmandy GM8, G-11 and Titan

A very heavy duty tripod consisting of three adjustable length tripod legs and one top part mini pier (image to the right).

The tripod can be adjusted in height between 80cm and approx. 117cm.

The weight of the tripod is 17kgs.

Tripod Extension for Long Tube Telescopes

The tripod extension allows for the use of long tube telescopes with rear viewing position. It provides a more convenient observing height and prevents the telescope from colliding with the tripod. Height of the tripod extension is 30cm.

Saddle plate for Losmandy GM8 and G-11 mounts - fits Losmandy format (3") dovetail plates. The saddle plate is attached to the mount with two screws 3" apart.

For astro-imaging you often need to find a way to mount two telescopes parallel to each other. One telescope is used as primary telescope for photography, the other is used as a guide scope. The classical solution of piggy-back mounting a second telescope bears several disadvantages. The Losmandy Dual Telescope Mounting Plate is a much more elegant solution:

- shorter lever arms
- less strain for the mount
- the thin tube rings of a telescope tend to bend under the load of a guide scope, making guiding much less precise. The dual telescope mounting plate doesn't bend even under heavy loads

On both dovetail clamps telescopes with 3" (Losmandy format) dovetail plates can be mounted. You can balance the system even if one telescope is much heavier than the other by moving the plate laterally.

"Glow in the dark" anti vibration pads for Losmandy and other-brand tripods. These pads come between the tripod and the ground. They offer much better vibration dampening properties than the ground, resulting in quicker elimination of vibrations. The pads glow in the dark for up to 15 hours, of course without blinding the user.

We always recommend to have additional counterweight on the counterweight shaft rather than using less counterweights further from the center. That way you will keep down vibrations and will of course also have reserves for heavy accessories.

Original Losmandy counterweights do not share the same clean looks of the mounts themselves. For this reason Telescope-Service offers two sizes of stainless steel counterweights - precision machined.

Unlike conventional GoTo drives that remember only the relative position of a mount and need to be realigned whenever you manually move the mount digital setting circles use absolute encoders that will recognize the mount's position even when using the mount manually. Dedicated Astro computers, such as those made by JMI ( German Presentation ) will guide your way to the object.

Losmandy digital setting circles come with a complete assembly kit, you only need to buy the computer separately. The encoders fit GM8 and G-11 mounts with a resolution of 2048 lines.

These aluminium motor covers perform two functions: 1) They protect the motors during frequent transport of the mount. 2) They look great! They fit Losmandy GM8, G-9, G11 and HGM mounts. They are made of aluminium and are black anodized.
