Powerseeker 114 - Newtonian with 910mm Focal Length

The Powerseeker 114 is a classic entry-level telescope. It offers stunning views of the moon and the planets and at the same time offers a much larger light-gathering capacity than a smaller refractor. This makes the Powerseeker a true multi-purpose telescope.

Moon and Planets
The most interesting objects on the night-sky are our moon and the planets in our own solar system. Unlike some fainter objects (see Galaxies, Clusters, Nebulae) the moon and the planets can be very clearly seen even by beginners.

You can observe countless impact craters on the moon, lunar mountains, even huge geologic formations called the "Maria" - vaguely reminiscent of our Earth's continents.

Saturn's rings can be clearly seen, making Saturn one of the most beautiful objects of all.

On Jupiter you can see the cloud belts and under good circumstances even the Great Red Spot, an enormous hurricane twice the size of our Earth! And of course you can also watch the fascinating dance of the four Galilean moons!

Galaxies, Clusters, Nebulae
Many so-called "Deep-Sky Objects" are also within reach of this telescope. For objects of this kind you need one thing above all: A large aperture! The Powerseeker 114 has about 4x the light gathering surface of a 50mm refractor, so it is a large step ahead of such a smaller telescope when it comes to observing the far reaches of our universe!

You can see the Andromeda Galaxy with its two satellite galaxies. You can watch M13, a large globular cluster that packs several hundred thousand stars in a small ball. The Great Orion Nebula (this is a place where stars are born!) can be seen with much detail.

Scope of Delivery
The Powerseeker 114 comes with all basic accessories needed to begin this fascinating hobby!

Moon and Planets
The most interesting objects on the night-sky are our moon and the planets in our own solar system. Unlike some fainter objects (see Galaxies, Clusters, Nebulae) the moon and the planets can be very clearly seen even by beginners.

With its high quality parabolic mirror the Astromaster 130 has an excellent performance!

You can observe countless impact craters on the moon, lunar mountains, even huge geologic formations called the "Maria" - vaguely reminiscent of our Earth's continents.

Saturn's rings can be clearly seen, making Saturn one of the most beautiful objects of all. Under the proper observing conditions you can even see Saturn's Cassini division and details in the atmosphere.

On Jupiter you can see details in the cloud belts and under good circumstances even the Great Red Spot, an enormous hurricane twice the size of our Earth! And of course you can also watch the fascinating dance of the four Galilean moons!

Galaxies, Clusters, Nebulae
This is one of the strong points of this telescope: Many so-called "Deep-Sky Objects" are within reach of this telescope and can be seen much more clearly than in smaller aperture telescopes. The Astromaster 130 has over 6x the light gathering power of a 50mm refractor, so it is a large step ahead of such a smaller telescope when it comes to observing the far reaches of our universe!

You can see the Andromeda Galaxy with its two satellite galaxies. You can watch M13, a large globular cluster that packs several hundred thousand stars in a small ball. The Great Orion Nebula (this is a place where stars are born!) can be seen with much detail. It is possible to boost the contrast with a good quality nebular filter.

On the whole many hundreds if not thousands of Deep Sky Objects can be seen with the Astromaster 130.

Celestron Astro Newtonian 150/750mm

A classical Newtonian with 150mm Aperture and 750mm Focal Length is in our opinion one of the most versatile telescopes imaginable.
In practically every possible field of amateur astronomy the Celestron Newtonian 150/750mm offers a great performance.
At the same time the telescope is quite easy to use, can be upgraded with lots of extras, and is very portable. All this makes the Celestron Newtonian an excellent entry-level telescope.

Visual Use
A 6" Newtonian offers lots of light for serious deep-sky observing. Countless gas nebulae will be displayed in beautiful detail, star clusters are ripe with stars. Hundreds of galaxies are within reach of this telescope.

With an aperture of 150mm the telescope can be efficiently used with nebular filters to enhance contrast.

At the same time the telescope is well suited for objects within our solar system. The moon and the planets are displayed in plenty of detail - the moon in particular feels as if you actually were there! No false colour will disturb you (unlike cheap refractors) and the parabolical mirror offers a good image sharpness.

Astro-Imaging
One of the strong points of this Newtonian. You can take photos both of the moon and planets and of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The short focal ratio of f/5 results in relatively short exposure times. We carry the needed adaptors for most common cameras, both for prime focus astro imaging and for eyepiece projection.

The telescope already has a T-mount thread to accept SLR cameras. You only need a T-ring for the adaptation. The thread is positioned so that you will actually be able to reach focus - not every Newtonian of that size offers this. The focuser is solidly made of metal and has a locking screw to fix the focuser in position once you have attained focus.

For long exposure times we recommend to use a guide scope parallel to the Newtonian. This guide scope is used to correct the tracking error that each mount has. Please ask for a recommended setup!

Tip: If you are into astro-imaging you should choose a sufficiently stable equatorial mount that has power reserves for heavy accessories!

Accessories:
20mm Plossl - this multi-coated eyepiece offers a good image sharpness and contrast
Tube Rings made of aluminium. With piggy-back camera holder on one of the tube rings.
6x30 Finderscope with quick release finder bracket.

Specifications:
Aperture 150mm ( 6" ) / Focal Length 750mm / Focal Ratio f/5
Maximum useful magnification - approximately 230x

Minimum useful magnification - 23.4x

CEN150vorne.jpg (39569 Byte)

Celestron Astro Newtonian 200/1000mm

The Celestron 200/1000mm Newtonian on Celestron ADM (CG-5) equatorial mount

Celestron 200/1000 Newtonian Optical Tube Assembly. The eyepiece is not normally included in the OTA package.
Probably one of the most common large aperture Newtonians for all applications. The 200/1000mm Newtonian offers a good performance no matter which field of practical amateur astronomy you are into.

Visual Use
This large aperture Newtonian offers real deep sky views. The double cluster h+x Persei is ripe with hundreds of densely clustered stars. The Plejades aren't only a couple of stars, but you will even see the gas clouds the young stars were born in. The Lagoon nebula shows numerous details and the Trifid nebula will show where its name comes from.

All kinds of nebular filters can be used to boost contrast. Due to the large aperture the image will remain bright even in narrowband filters.

The relatively small secondary mirror and thin spider vanes allow for a good contrast even on the planets and the moon. Given good seeing conditions the Cassini division in Saturn's rings can be seen, details in Saturn's atmosphere, even details within Jupiter's great red spot can be discerned. With the right filters even Mars can be seen in lots of detail.

Astro-Imaging
The 200/1000mm Newtonian is a very powerful telephoto lens for serious astro-imaging. Countless galaxies can be depicted revealing their spiral structure, gas nebulae are very colourful. We recommend to use a guide scope for longer exposure times. Also you should choose a sufficiently sturdy equatorial mount for serious astro-imaging. The Celestron ADM (left image) is a good minimum mount for this requirement.

Obviously you can also take good images of the moon and the planets. For this we recommend to use a webcam and digital image processing.

Specifications and Accessories:
Aperture / Focal Length 200mm / 1000mm - f/5
Tube Weight approx. 9 kgs
Primary Mirror parabolical
Limiting Magnitude, visual 14.7 mag
Theoretical Resolution 0.57"
Focuser 2" metal focuser, 1.25" adaptor, T2 adaptor

Celestron Astro Newtonian 250mm/1200mm

The Celestron 250/1200mm Newtonian on Celestron ADM equatorial mount - a nice combination for purely visual use.

CEN250.jpg (15804 Byte)

Celestron Newtonian 250/1200mm
on Celestron CAM GoTo Mount .. Further Information

A very powerful, large aperture Newtonian telescope. Its primary use is of course deep sky observations where the large aperture will show much more detail than a smaller Newtonian could. The telescope has a parabolical primary mirror, thin spider vanes and a relatively small secondary mirror for good image sharpness and contrast. You can go up to approx. 400x magnification.

Visual Use
Several galaxies will reveal their spiral structure under a good, dark sky. Planetary nebulae aren't just tiny discs but will reveal plenty of detail. The bright globular cluster M13 is resolved into single stars to the center.

The telescope is of course also suited for observing the moon and the planets. Good seeing conditions are required for that, though. In calm nights the multitude of visible details will impress even experienced observers.

Astro-Imaging
This Newtonian is an extremely powerful "lens" for your camera. Thousands of objects are within its reach and will reveal many details. Exposure times are relatively short due to the fast focal ratio of f/5.

You do need a very sturdy mount for a telescope of this size, though. Even the EQ-6 should be set up at a place where the telescope is protected against wind. Under such conditions the EQ-6 will allow for good quality astro-imaging.

The moon and the planets are much easier to capture. The much shorter exposure times allow you to use less massive, less expensive mounts. We recommend to use a webcam and digital image processing for the best results.

GoTo Mount Celestron CAM
A powerful and very affordable GoTo mount for telescopes up to 10". ..... Further Information

Heavy Equatorial Mount EQ-6
This heavy mount carries the Newtonian with good stability for visual use, and even has some power reserves for astro-imaging. You can add heavy accessories.

A dual axis motor drive and a polar scope are included. If you plan to do long exposure astro-imaging you can choose one of the optional motor drive upgrades for a better tracking precision. The mount can even be upgraded with GoTo.

Accessories:
Kellner 20mm - 1.25"
Kellner 10mm - 1.25"
Finderscope
Eyepiece with rubber eyeguard, 50x magnification
Eyepiece with rubber eyeguard, 100x magnification
8x50 quick release finderscope

The maximum useful magnification is approx. 400x. But due to seeing conditions there are only a handful of nights each year where you can really use such high magnifications.
